Philadelphia Eagles’ Top Trade Deadline Priority Revealed
The Philadelphia Eagles have been arguably the strangest team in the NFL thus far this season. They are 5-2 through seven games, but they haven’t looked particularly dominant at any point. They were blown out by the New York Giants in Week 6, and their offense has been maddeningly inconsistent.
That being said, the Eagles are still the defending champions, and they are currently in the driver’s seat in the NFC East. Plus, on paper, they are absolutely loaded.

Even so, Philadelphia could use some upgrades, and with the aerial attack appearing to turn it around against the Minnesota Vikings last Sunday, Philly can now turn its attention to its defense, which ranks 23rd in the NFL.
Fortunately, the Eagles have from now until the trade deadline to make some moves to bolster the unit, and Zach Berman of The Athletic has identified what Philadelphia’s top priority will likely be before Nov. 4.
“Edge rusher should be a priority over cornerback,” Berman wrote. “Howie Roseman has already made six trades since the start of training camp, so it’s not as if he has been sitting on his hands. He still has 10 projected draft picks in 2026, giving him flexibility. Pay attention to Dolphins edge rushers Bradley Chubb and Jaelan Phillips, both of whom have experience under defensive coordinator Vic Fangio.”
The Eagles have amassed a grand total of 11 sacks thus far in 2025, which ranks toward the bottom of the league. They were never really able to replace Josh Sweat and Milton Williams after losing them in free agency, and Nolan Smith being on the injured reserve list doesn’t help, either.

As a result, it’s fair to expect Philadelphia to try and make a move for a pass rusher over the next couple of weeks, but Philly might also attempt to upgrade the cornerback position behind Quinyon Mitchell. Kelee Ringo has struggled mightily in the No. 2 cornerback role, so it wouldn’t be surprising to see the Eagles shore up that spot on the roster, as well.
Philadelphia has a wealth of draft picks between Rounds 3 and 4 of the 2026 NFL Draft (five to be precise), so the Birds absolutely have some flexibility to make moves there.
The Eagles will face the Giants again this Sunday.
