Phillies Reportedly Open To Trading 2024 All-Star, Fan Favorite This Offseason

The Philadelphia Phillies looked like the best team in baseball for most of the 2024 season. Unfortunately for them, it only matters who plays like the best team at the end of the year. And the Phillies played far from their best baseball down the stretch as they saw themselves bounced early in the 2024 postseason.
As they head into the offseason, Philadelphia is going to need to make some kind of changes to improve going into next season.
ESPN’s Jeff Passan has revealed that Philadelphia is looking to shake up its roster. Part of this roster shakeup could include trading one of their 2024 All-Stars.

“Coming off a career-best season, the 28-year-old (Alec) Bohm nonetheless finds himself on the trade block,” Passan wrote. “While he was a well-above-average hitter — .280/.332/.448 with 61 extra-base hits — his first-half OPS was nearly 150 points higher than in the second half, and the Phillies are looking to shake up their team after a disappointing postseason ouster by the (New York) Mets.”
Bohm was tremendous during the first half of the year, as Passan stated. Production like that will have his trade value quite high this winter, especially since he won’t hit free agency until 2027.
Plenty of teams would be willing to make a deal for a 28-year-old All-Star corner infielder. The New York Yankees, Houston Astros, Boston Red Sox, and Mets all make sense, but it’s the Seattle Mariners that make the most sense for both sides.
Seattle is incredibly deep at starting pitcher while the Phillies need to add one arm to their big league roster. There’s hope that top prospect Andrew Painter can fill that spot, but if the Mariners are willing to deal an arm like Luis Castillo, he would fit with Philadelphia much better.
