Photo Shows Rihanna Wearing A$AP Rocky’s Lawyer’s Son’s Clothing Line
Joe Tacopina, an attorney for A$AP Rocky in his felony assault trial, once celebrated the rapper’s girlfriend, Rihanna, wearing pieces from his son’s fashion line.
Newsweek has contacted Joseph Davide and Tacopina, who is under a gag order in the trial, by email for comment.

Why It Matters
Tacopina, a high-profile attorney who once represented President Donald Trump, is on A$AP Rocky’s defense team in the Los Angeles case in which the rapper faces around eight years in prison if convicted on two felony counts of assault with a semiautomatic firearm.
The charges stem from a November 2021 incident in Hollywood in which A$AP Rocky allegedly fired a gun at his former friend and fellow A$AP Mob member, A$AP Relli.
Rihanna has sat in the courtroom gallery for multiple days of the trial amid intense media coverage on whether the billionaire would appear in court to support her longtime partner.
What To Know
Tacopina’s son, Joseph Davide, launched Davide, an Italian luxury menswear label, in his hometown of Westport, Connecticut, in June 2023, according to a news release.
“Joseph Davide credits his intrigue for enterprise to having received a decade-long personal masterclass in pioneering change from his father, high-stakes trial attorney and Italian football club executive Joe Tacopina,” the release reads.
“Paternal admiration gave him his creed: Success or failure doesn’t matter; do not waste the freedom of opportunity to build your own narrative,” it adds.
It also states A$AP Rocky has also worn Davide pieces, along with New York Jets player Garrett Wilson and nightclub mogul Richie Akiva.
In an Instagram post on July 9, 2023, Tacopina posted a photo of a pregnant Rihanna wearing an open Davide-brand cardigan, showing off her belly.
“Rihanna in my son’s brand!” Tacopina captioned the photo.
The Davide Designs also posted photos of Rihanna, writing, “@badgalriri in our Stella D’italia Cardigan.”
What People Are Saying
Superior Judge Mark Arnold implementing a gag order in A$AP Rocky’s case: “I don’t want any attorney saying anything to the press while the case is going on. That’s it. You can call it a gag order.”
Attorney Gloria Allred to Newsweek on whether Rihanna’s presence in court could sway jurors: “Although jurors are instructed by the judge to consider only the evidence admitted by the court, it is human nature for many jurors to look at a celebrity sitting in the courtroom.
“Even though jurors should not take those facts into consideration and even if jurors state that they will not consider that, some jurors will not be able to ignore it.”
Tacopina to reporters before the trial started: “This case is not about Rihanna. But I guess the D.A. [District Attorney] wants to make sure people aren’t so enamored with Rihanna they’re going to be so blinded by their love for Rihanna they won’t listen to the evidence and facts of this case. I don’t think that’s the case. I think people are too smart for that. But I guess they’re worried about it. They want to make sure she’s classified in [a certain] way.”
