Prince William and Kate’s Sweet Moment Before Facing the Media Goes Viral

Prince William appearing to give Princess Kate an air kiss on the hand before they stepped out of their car into a hail of flash bulbs went viral on social media.

The Prince and Princess of Wales arrived at the Royal Albert Hall, in London, for the Royal Variety Performance on Wednesday night.

Crowds and cameras were gathered around their car but the couple waited just a moment before stepping out together, and fans believe they have spotted a sweet gesture from William to Kate.

Why It Matters

A clip of the moment was viewed 248,000 times and liked 3,000 times after it was posted on X with the message: “Did I just see him air kiss her hand at timestamp 0.16 before he got out of the car!?”

What To Know

In the footage, the couple’s car pulled up outside the Royal Albert Hall before William appeared to give a sharp intake of breath and adjust his bow tie, even as the window sporadically lit up from camera flashes. He then seemed to lift Kate’s hand toward his face as though to kiss it, stopping slightly short.

The car door was then opened for him and he got out, before following Kate to greet dignitaries as the press cameras continued to flash.

Inside the Royal Albert Hall, Kate let slip that her children Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis are all fans of Paddington Bear.

The cast of Paddington The Musical were the stars of the red carpet and William and Kate posed with Paddington. The princess, though, told twins Emelie and Olivia Edwards, both nine, the royal trio had been so disappointed about not going she had told them that children were not allowed.

“My kiddies were very sad, we’re going to have to keep it a big secret that I saw you guys,” Kate said. “They were very sad not to be joining us.”

What People Are Saying

One fan reacted to the clip on X by agreeing it looked like William had gone to kiss Kate’s hand: “I slowed it down, it looks like it. Just awesome and so sweet.”

Another said Kate was “lucky” and the original poster replied: “He is luckier to have her in his life. His life has been impacted much more positively by her presence in it.”
