Private jets grounded at a dozen airports nationwide 

Private jet and business aviation operations have been halted at 12 airports as of early Monday morning, as the Federal Aviation Administration imposes new limits amid the ongoing government shutdown.

This follows restrictions last week which ordered flights to be cut by 10 percent at 40 major airports, aimed at easing strains on air traffic controllers who have been working without pay during the shutdown.

The National Business Aviation Association’s President and CEO Ed Bolen said in a statement that the restrictions were “disproportionately impacting general aviation, an industry that creates more than a million jobs, generates $340 billion in economic impact and supports humanitarian flights every day.”

There will be limited exceptions for based aircraft, emergency, medical, law‑enforcement, firefighting, military operations, or unless authorized by the Federal Aviation Administration, the NBAA said.
