Professional Wrestling Icon Dustin Rhodes’ AEW Contract Has Expired
Dustin Rhodes, one of the most iconic living wrestlers and a scion of a great wrestling family, no longer has a contract with All Elite Wrestling, making it an open question when and where he could show up next.
Fightful Select reports that Rhodes’ contract with AEW/ROH was set to expire at either the end of September or the start of October.
Rhodes has not wrestled for the company since then, despite currently being a double champion as ROH World Tag Team Champion alongside Sammy Guevara and one-third of the ROH World Six-Man Tag Team Champions alongside Marshall and Ross Von Ericha double champion.

Writer Sean Ross Sapp was able to confirm that negotiations between the two sides have been ongoing, but apparently, nothing has been signed or agreed to yet. Rhodes has wrestled more matches in 2024 than any year he’s had since 2020 and is on pace to have his busiest in-ring year since 2018.
Across his time in WWE, WCW, and ROH, Runnels has captured a total of 25 championships. In WCW, he held the WCW United States Heavyweight Championship twice, won the WCW World Six-Man Tag Team Championship once, and claimed the WCW World Tag Team Championship twice.
In WWF/WWE, he is a three-time Intercontinental Champion, a nine-time Hardcore Champion, a one-time World Tag Team Champion, and a two-time WWE Tag Team Champion. It is probably fair to say these combined victories (which don’t even include those of smaller organizations like Coastal Championship Wrestling and Coastal Championship Wrestling) make him one of the most honored wrestlers currently active.
He is also a member of the prestigious Rhodes family, being the son of “The American Dream” Dusty Rhodes, widely regarded as one of the most influential wrestlers of all time and a member of numerous Halls of Fame.

He is also the half-brother of Cody Rhodes, the current Undisputed WWE Champion. The latter is facing off against Gunther today for the inaugural WWE Crown Jewel Championship.
Dustin Rhodes is particularly known for his Goldust persona, a gimmick he adopted at the suggestion of Vince McMahon, who wanted an “androgynous” character. The sexually suggestive character has been both controversial and praised as a depiction of “queer wrestling.” Rhodes has not performed as Goldust since 2018.
