Raiders Owner Mark Davis Makes Shocking Tom Brady Admission

Back in 2020, the Las Vegas Raiders were incredibly close to bringing on Tom Brady before he joined the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Had Brady joined the Raiders, who knows where the team would be right now? They may have had a Super Bowl ring, much like the Bucs do, thanks in large part to the arguable greatest quarterback ever.
Interestingly, Brady was attached to multiple teams during this time, but Raiders owner Mark Davis was dead set on bringing him in.

What is shocking is that the move to bring Brady in as the Raiders quarterback was shut down by none other than Jon Gruden and then-general manager Mike Mayock.
In a new video posted to the Raiders’ socials, Davis explains the situation that nearly led to Brady joining the organization much before he became a minority owner.
“He was supposed to be here in 2020,” Davis said of Brady. “That’s when our relationship started, was in 2020 when he was a free agent and we talked to him about coming here to play quarterback. Obviously, it was a tough decision, he was close to coming here, but the head coach and general manager decided they wanted to go in a different direction. So, we didn’t sign him, but as I got to know him through that process, I let his agent know that when he was done playing, I would like him to be a part of our organization.”
Davis wanted to bring Brady to the Raiders and revealed he had an inkling that his joining the Buccaneers would lead to success. Unfortunately, Gruden and Mayock wanted to stick with Derek Carr.
To the credit of Gruden, nobody quite knew how much Brady had left in the tank, as he was in the twilight years of his career in 2020. Unfortunately, he had plenty left, and helped lead the Buccaneers to a Super Bowl.
Brady did join the Raiders organization, but as a minority owner. Still, it is a wonder what he may or may not have accomplished had he been under center for the team in 2020.
