Ravens’ John Harbaugh Gives Encouraging Update on QB Lamar Jackson

The Baltimore Ravens earned a much-needed victory on Sunday against the Chicago Bears, doing so with backup quarterback Tyler Huntley leading the way.

Huntley completed 17 of 22 passes for 186 yards and one touchdown while adding 53 rushing yards on eight carries in the 30–16 win.

Throughout the week, based on the team’s public updates, it appeared that star quarterback Lamar Jackson would be the one suiting up after missing the previous two games with a hamstring injury sustained against the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 4. However, on Saturday—after initially stating that he had logged a full practice the day before—the Ravens later clarified that Jackson had only participated in a limited session with the scout team and would not be playing.

The situation could result in potential discipline for the Ravens, ranging from fines or loss of draft picks to possible suspensions if the NFL determines a serious violation occurred. Still, as of Monday, head coach John Harbaugh provided an encouraging update on Jackson’s status ahead of Thursday night’s matchup with the Miami Dolphins.

“I feel very confident about it,” Harbaugh said. “I expect him to be out there Thursday night.”

The Ravens sit at 2–5 overall and still have plenty of work to do, but with the rest of the AFC North struggling, they remain firmly in the mix to contend for the division title. According to DraftKings Sportsbook, Baltimore is now the betting favorite to win the AFC North following the Pittsburgh Steelers’ loss to the Green Bay Packers on Sunday night.

As it stands, the Steelers lead the division at 4–3, followed by the Cincinnati Bengals at 3-5 after a brutal collapse against the New York Jets. The Ravens are currently third, with the Cleveland Browns rounding out the division at 2-6.
