Red Robin Unveils Major Update to Its Menu

Red Robin has launched a brand new limited-time menu that is set to launch next week that features two new burgers, two new entrees, the return of a fan favorite appetizer as well as a lineup of cocktail and mocktail beverages.

Why It Matters

New menu items are a way to capture customer interest amid larger trends of declining consumer spending and heightened competition in the industry.

Other restaurant and fast-food giants have recently unveiled new menu creations, including Starbucks with its protein lattes and cold foam and Arby’s with the return of the Loaded Italian Sandwich.

What To Know

The new menu items at Red Robin include the A.1. Steakhouse Burger and the Bacon ‘N’ Bleu Burger.

While the Steakhouse burger comes with hardwood-smoked bacon, roasted garlic aioli, sautéed garlic mushrooms, A.1. Original Steak Sauce and Monterey Jack cheese, the Bacon ‘N’ Bleu burger will entice those with its hardwood-smoked bacon, house-made ranch dressing, caramelized onions, Monterey Jack cheese and blue cheese.

Those looking for a healthier version of Red Robin’s famous fries will also be excited to see the Zucchini Fries have made a return.

Other new items include the Shrimp ‘N’ Chip Basket, Crispy Fried Shrimp and Crispy Fish & Shrimp Duo.

For those eager to look at the burger giant’s dessert menu, the new Cookie Dough Mudd Pie, which has layers of chocolate and vanilla ice cream, cookie dough chunks, chocolate cookie crumbs, fudge and caramel topped with whipped cream and a cherry, is waiting.

The drink menu will also be getting an upgrade, courtesy of the new Fizzy Sodas, which build upon Red Robin’s famous cream sodas with six new flavors, including Candied Orange, Wild Raspberry, Desert Pear, Dragon Fruit, Coconut Coca-Cola and Vanilla Dr Pepper.

For those looking for something a little extra in their beverage, the Tito’s Fishbowl cocktail comes with Tito’s Handmade Vodka, coconut, blue curaçao, Minute Maid Lemonade and candy fish.

There’s also the Pop Pop Fizz, mixed with Grey Goose Vodka, dragon fruit, all-natural sweet and sour mix, pineapple juice and a mini bottle of La Marca Prosecco. Or you can opt for the Tropical Dragon Fruit Sparkler, made with dragon fruit syrup, pineapple juice and all-natural sweet and sour mix, topped with club soda and garnished with a pineapple wedge and mint.

What People Are Saying

Brian Sullivan, executive chef and VP of Culinary & Beverage Innovation at Red Robin, said in a statement: “I’m especially excited about this menu because it lets us put a fresh spin on guest favorites while also bringing brand new flavors to our restaurants. From our take on the dirty soda trend and shareable appetizers to bold gourmet burgers and bubbly new cocktails, it’s a mix that really has something for everyone.”

Alex Beene, a financial literacy instructor for the University of Tennessee at Martin, told Newsweek: “Over the past few weeks; we’ve seen a flurry of new menu options from many major restaurant chains, with Red Robin being the latest with two new burgers. At the heart of these additions is many chains struggling with foot traffic and revenue as customers favor eating at home to save money.”

He added: “Red Robin is hoping through these introductions to draw back customers who may have not been frequenting their brand as often and to attract new customers.”

What Happens Next?

The new menu goes live on September 8.
