Referee Heads to Locker Room After Being Hit by Packers Player

Line judge Carl Johnson exited the Detroit Lions, Green Bay Packers matchup after being hit by a Packers player in the third quarter on Thursday Night Football.
Both Lions and Packers staff surrounded Johnson after he fell to the ground. Johnson headed to the locker room with an apparent shoulder injury.

Johnson eventually returned to the divisional showdown after the Lions scored a touchdown to reclaim the lead, 24-21, with 5:02 remaining in the third quarter.
This is an important matchup for both teams. The Lions are beaten down by injuries but hope to continue their win streak with a triumph over Green Bay. The task was certainly made harder by the latest injury to star defensive lineman Alim McNeill.

McNeill was officially ruled out with a head injury after the first half but exited the game to be evaluated for a concussion before the end of the first quarter. McNeill eventually returned to the game after heading to the locker room.
However, McNeill did not return for the second half of the divisional showdown. Since his exit from the game, the defense has struggled to contain Jordan Love and company in the third quarter.
With a win at Ford Field, the Packers hope to take home the NFC North title. Green Bay is two games behind the Lions and one game behind the Minnesota Vikings in the division. If the Packers can win out, the title is theirs.
Therefore, the Thursday Night Football matchup is a must-win game for Green Bay. The Packers have a fairly good chance to beat the Lions as Detroit has a total of 13 defensive players on injured reserve.
Detroit’s defense is exposed, but defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn hopes to pull all the right levers in putting each backup in the right position. The pressure is on for the Lions since the division title and home-field advantage for the playoffs are at stake.
The Lions got off to a hot start with a 17-7 lead after the first half. Once Love and his unit returned after halftime, the Packers’ offense began to show just how explosive it can really be.
Detroit has managed to score just one touchdown in the second half, while the Packers have scored 21 points since halftime. Green Bay currently leads the divisional showdown by four points, 28-24.
