Rescue Dog Turns 15, Owners Decide To Do Something Unforgettable

A rescue husky dog recently turned 15 years old, so his owner decided to take the day off work and make it special for him.

In a video shared on TikTok on Sunday, the poster, under the username @aliceontheroad, can be seen taking her pup to all of his favorite places, and doing all of his favorite things, making it an unforgettable day.

“My boy turned 15 so I took the day off. We started the day with a morning hot dog. the on the way to his favorite activity! he LOVES the paddle board. And having [a] little swim in the river to cool down after a peaceful nap,” a caption reads.

“We paddled back to the next activity. time for a sunset ride! but first, a very well deserved ice cream! yummy! On the way to his favorite sunset spot.”

However, the surprises for the pup weren’t over yet. After getting back home, the poster made him a very special type of birthday cake, a whole steak, just for him to enjoy. “It was very yummy and he barely even chewed!!” the post continues.

If you are a dog owner, then you’ve probably heard the theory that each dog year is equal to about seven human years, but how much truth is there to it? The American Kennel Club says there is none.

In fact, the AKC website adds that, while dogs do age more quickly than humans, this mostly depends on their size and breed, and it is not a one-size-fits-all. For example, smaller dogs such as Chihuahuas are usually considered senior at the age of 7, even though they still have a lot life left in them at that age.

At the same time, larger breeds such as Great Danes, who have a life expectancy of only about 7 to 10 years, are considered middle-aged around about 4 years old, which, for them, equals about 35 human years.

Small dogs usually live much longer than their larger counterparts, but which specific breeds live the longest? Those such as Jack Russells, Lhasa apso and border collies usually live around 14 years.

Miniature dachshunds, as well as miniature poodles and Shih Tzus, usually live anywhere between 13 and 18 years. Golden retrievers, Australian shepherds and beagles, among others, have a life span of about 12 years.

The video quickly went viral on social media and has so far received over 1.8 million views and more than 335,000 likes on the platform.

One user, Infiniti Home Buyers, commented: “My boy Samson made it to 13 … he passed at home hours after his bday party. Like he knew to wait because he knew I wanted to celebrate it one last time. Obedient to the end. RIP Samson 5/25/24.”

Airkay19 posted: “My husky left me a few weeks ago, he was 17 years old. Enjoy all your time with him. Happy Birthday.”

Moedoe added: “Thank you for taking the day off & take that baby boy out he well deserves it 15 dog years is a lot of memories God bless you & your baby happy bday.”
