Russia Backs Trump for Nobel Peace Prize—Unless ‘Monstrous Idea’ Happens

A top aide to Russian President Vladimir Putin said Moscow would support U.S. President Donald Trump receiving the Nobel Peace Prize.

But the Kremlin’s Yuri Ushakov, who advises Putin on foreign policy, called Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s linking of the peace prize to the delivery of Tomahawk cruise missiles a “monstrous idea”.

Zelensky has requested the long-range cruise missiles from the U.S. and Trump is considering it. Zelensky said Ukraine would back Trump receiving the Nobel Peace Prize if he gave Kyiv the Tomahawks.

“I think at the moment we would support it—if we were asked,” Ushakov told a journalist for the Telegram channel “Yunashev Live”, originally in Russian, when asked if Russia backs Trump receiving the Nobel Peace Prize.

“What’s really surprising here, I’d even say it shows the stupidity of Zelensky, who said that Ukraine could lobby for Trump to receive the Nobel Peace Prize if Trump sells us Tomahawks.

“In other words, a peace prize for supplying weapons—that’s an absolutely monstrous idea. But if people think in such categories, it says a lot about what they really are.”

The Nobel Peace Prize for 2025 is due to be announced on Friday.
