Russia launched it’s largest aerial attack on Ukraine since the start of the war overnight, according to a Ukrainian official, killing at least one person.
Yuriy Ihnat, head of communications for Ukraine’s air force, called the assault “the most massive air strike” on the country by drones and missiles.
“Almost all night long, air raid alerts sounded across Ukraine,” the country’s president, Volodymyr Zelensky said in a post on X, adding that the onslaught involved 477 drones and “60 missiles of various types.”
The Ukrainian leader said that in repelling the attack, an F-16 pilot died, and offered his condolences to the man’s family.
A child was also injured, Zelensky said.
