Saquon Barkley Calls Out Eagles Teammates Over ‘Awful’ Sideline Energy

The dysfunction within the Philadelphia Eagles locker room has been well-documented this season.

There’s been reported turmoil between offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo and star wide receiver A.J. Brown, and between Brown and his quarterback, Super Bowl MVP Jalen Hurts.

And though the team is 8-4 and just one game out of the top seed in the NFC, which is currently held by the 9-3 Chicago Bears, some analysts have expressed concern about the Eagles’ ability to make a deep playoff run given the amount of tension that reportedly exists between some of the players.

Star running back Saquon Barkley didn’t do much to dissuade those worries with what he admitted about the vibe on the team’s sideline on game days.

“During games? Honestly, I think it’s been awful,” Barkley said of the energy on the Eagles’ sidelines, via Zach Berman of The Athletic. “I think if you ask anybody, if they’re being honest, we’d all agree on that.

“Most importantly, I think the energy in practice, in walkthrough, in meetings, has been great. Now we got to carry that to game day. So all the stuff has been great, and now we need to make sure on game day, the energy is high and we execute and we make plays. The rest will take care of itself.”

While Barkley’s admission likely isn’t a surprise to many, what is noteworthy is the fact that he publicly shined a light on an issue among his teammates given the amount of time the team has spent denying there are any problems among any of its players.

Despite starting the season 8-2, the Eagles have lost back-to-back games against the Dallas Cowboys and Bears the last two weeks.

With the Cowboys on their heels, the Eagles can’t afford many more slip-ups. Dallas has the easier remaining schedule with just one playoff opponent in four games while Philadelphia has two playoff opponents in its five remaining games.
