SEC Program Emerging as Favorite to Land Arizona State QB Sam Leavitt
Arizona State Sun Devils quarterback Sam Leavitt has made the official decision to enter the NCAA transfer portal this offseason.
Following a great run with the Arizona State program, Leavitt is looking to cash in with plenty of teams needing quarterbacks in the transfer portal. He is also looking for an opportunity to have a fresh start as he looks to build his NFL Draft stock.
Leavitt is one of the most coveted signal callers available in the portal. There are plenty of potential landing spots that have been suggested for him already.

Plenty of big schools, including LSU and Indiana, have been suggested for Leavitt. However, there are other programs who would be open to signing a big check to bring him onboard.

Keeping that in mind, a surprising SEC school has emerged as the top contender to land Leavitt at this point in time.
According to a report from On3 Sports college football insider Pete Nakos, the Kentucky Wildcats have emerged as the top team to watch for his services.
“Sources have told On3’s Steve Wiltfong and I that Kentucky has emerged as a top school to watch in this recruitment,” Nakos wrote. “As On3’s KSR first reported, the Wildcats are working to get the first visit and get Leavitt on campus.”
Kentucky would not be the first program that comes to many fans minds. The Wildcats are not known for being a football school and are coming off of a 2025 season that saw them go 5-7. Of course, that record did not make them eligible for a bowl game.
During the 2025 season with the Sun Devils, Leavitt put together a disappointing year. He completed 60.7 percent of his pass attempts for 1,628 yards, 10 touchdowns, and three interceptions in seven games. Leavitt’s season came to an end early due to a foot injury.

Back in 2024, he put up much bigger production. He threw for 2,885 yards, 24 touchdowns, and six interceptions, while also completing 61.7 percent of his passes and running for 443 yards and five scores.
It will be interesting to see if Kentucky can get a deal done with Leavitt. Other teams will be calling, but the Wildcats seem to be the favorite right now.
