Shock As Gen Z Cat Owner Wakes Up To ‘Face Smeared With Blood’
In a viral post, a social-media poster revealed what her cat does every night that leaves her face smeared with blood, leaving internet users in shock.
Pictures, shared on Sunday under the Reddit username u/lilymarielmao, show the poster’s cheeks and ears covered in cat scratches, which, according to the post, are not a rare occurrence. “HELP. Cat making biscuits on my face/ears while I’m sleeping and drawing blood,” she wrote in the caption.
“Hi everyone!! Please help me. Each and every night my boy cat gets very cuddly and affectionate (he is not like this during the day),” the poster added. “Every morning when I wake up I have brief memories of pain during the night from him scratching me and purring and me pushing him away.”

“This morning I woke up to scratches with my face smeared with blood—cleaned before taking photo—and what looks like a NEW EAR PIERCING. I ONLY HAVE THREE. The top ‘hole’ is from my Ricky making biscuits while I’m unconscious. Also cleaned before photo—the amount of dried blood really alarmed me.”
The woman added that, because she doesn’t bond with the kitty during the day; she loves that he feels affectionate while she is asleep, but this is where she draws the line.
“I do not want to wake up with literal wounds,” says the 25-year-old pet owner, who still hasn’t contacted her veterinarian for an opinion.
Cats scratch for many reasons. It could be that they are sharpening and grooming the claws, or marking their territory by depositing scent from their foot pads. This may also just be a habit or a way to keep themselves entertained.
Scratching is a natural behavior for felines, which could just be a morning or dinner-time ritual, or even a way to play.
The best way to prevent this from happening is providing them with a new and exciting outlet for scratching. Remember never to punish physically your cat if they are scratching inappropriately, because not only does it not work but it also threatens your bond.
The post quickly went viral on social media and it has so far received over 3,600 upvotes and 277 comments on the platform.
One user, Rude-Bedroom1120, commented: “My cat does it too. I will literally pull the blanket up over my face/neck and he will push it out of the way to get to my skin lol I really haven’t found a solution except putting him at the foot of the bed and hoping he stays there lol [laugh out loud].”
PerceptionIll360 posted: “Sadistic biscuits.”
Autieparis_ added: “He gave you a free piercing.”
