‘Sister Wives’ Star Garrison Brown’s Cause of Death Revealed Two Months After His Passing
Entertainment gossip and news from Newsweek’s network of contributors
The cause of death for former Sister Wives star Garrison Brown has been confirmed. The son of Janelle and Kody Brown was found dead in his home over two months ago on March 5.
An autopsy report obtained by PEOPLE on May 15 revealed that the 25-year-old died from a gunshot wound to the head, with the manner of death ruled as suicide by the Coconino County Medical Examiner.
Ethanol intoxication, commonly known as alcohol poisoning, was cited as a contributing factor. Garrison’s blood alcohol level was .307% based on his iliac blood analysis and .370% based on his vitreous analysis. For context, the legal limit in the U.S. is .08%, and levels above .40% are considered potentially fatal. Additionally, traces of caffeine were found in his system at the time of his death.
Garrison was discovered in his Flagstaff, Arizona home by his 22 year old brother, Gabriel, earlier this year. Lieutenant Charles M. Hernandez II of the Flagstaff Police Department stated, “At this time there is not any indication of foul play, and Detectives from the Criminal Investigations Division are investigating.”
Following the tragic news, Janelle shared a heartfelt statement on Instagram. “Kody and I are deeply saddened to announce the loss of our beautiful boy Robert Garrison Brown,” she wrote, accompanied by a series of images of her son. “He was a bright spot in the lives of all who knew him. His loss will leave such a big hole in our lives that it takes our breath away. We ask that you please respect our privacy and join us in honoring his memory.” Kody also posted the same statement on his Instagram page.
While the comments were disabled on the post, Janelle shared another family photo on March 8, seemingly reminiscing on better times. The comments were filled with fans sending their love, saying things like, “Janelle we are all so heartbroken . So many tears are wept by those who love u and ur beautiful son. So handsome. No words can erase ur pain ❤,” and “Sending you internet hugs. My heart is broken for your family. Sending prayers to you and the kids.💜”
