Snake Invasion Found in Million-Pound Ohio House for Sale: ‘What the Hell’ 

A man working to restore a house in Ohio was shocked when he discovered what was slithering under the plastic coverings on the carpet.

Chuck Taylor, 49, is a property recovery agent in Cleveland, Ohio, and was inspecting a house in the area for investors and real estate agents. Upon entering the home, he made the shock discovery of snakes that had made their way under plastic wrap laying over the home’s carpets.

“We don’t know how these snakes got in the property and got underneath the protective plastic and died under the plastic,” Taylor told Newsweek.

Taylor shared a video of the discovery on Instagram, which has received over 500,000 views, showing the surprising sight he was greeted with when he began to inspect the property. The clip shows the snakes under the plastic covering as Taylor pans the camera around the empty room to show viewers how many there are.

“I’m in a million-dollar property right now that was rehabbed and I’m just doing my routine walkthrough,” he says in the clip. “There is a snake that got under the plastic and died.”

Taylor continues: “But it’s not the only one.” He then moves across the room to show another two snakes under the plastic in a different spot. He then shows a fourth snake he found in the room.

“This is creepy. I’ve never seen an invasion of snakes,” the property recovery agent says.

Taylor told Newsweek: “I was pretty shocked as I did not expect to see this on a routine inspection on such a high-end property.”

In the U.S., there are more than 150 different species of snake. Texas is the state with the most as it has 68 species. Ohio, meanwhile, has 28, most of which are common and harmless.

People took to the comments of Taylor’s video to share their thoughts on what they saw. One Instagram user, @trinm111, wrote: “Where are they coming from is the question.”

User @helenr0211 commented: “Imagine how many DIDN’T get trapped under the plastic… They’re in there somewhere.”

“That place already has tenants,” wrote @markz171, while @dafade commented: “There’s a snake pit somewhere.”
