Mike Tomlin and the Pittsburgh Steelers are 6-6 heading into Sunday’s Week 14 matchup against the division-rival Baltimore Ravens.
During last week’s 26-7 loss to the Buffalo Bills, “Fire Tomlin” chants rained down onto the field at Acrisure Stadium.
Despite Tomlin’s legendary run with the Steelers organization, some Pittsburgh fans are fed up with the team’s lack of success in recent years. Tomlin led the team to an NFL-record 18th consecutive non-losing season in 2024, but the Pittsburgh organization has not won a playoff game since 2016.
While fans are pressuring the Steelers to part ways with Tomlin, the team has reportedly already made up its mind regarding the coach’s NFL future.
The Steelers will not fire Tomlin at the end of the 2025 season, per NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport.
If Tomlin is not with the Pittsburgh organization to start the 2026 season, it will be because he decided to walk away on his own accord and give the team a fresh start.
“The Steelers know Tomlin is one of the NFL’s best coaches, and his relationship with Art Rooney and the organization he’s coached since 2007 is such that a firing is not on the table,” Rapoport reported on Sunday morning.
“As sources have explained, if Tomlin doesn’t coach the Steelers in 2026, it will be because he made that decision,” he continued. “And while the prospect of a coach trade often comes up in media speculation, that does not appear to be much of a reality either, sources said.”

The Steelers have lost five of their last seven games since starting the season with a 4-1 record.
Tomlin understands the frustration from Pittsburgh fans.
“If you root for the Steelers, entertaining them is winning,” Tomlin said earlier this week. “If you’ve been in this business, you understand that. I respect that. I share frustrations. I understand what makes this thing go, and winning is what makes this thing go.”
