Steve Harvey’s Best Reactions on ‘Family Feud’
Entertainment gossip and news from Newsweek’s network of contributors
If it’s one thing Steve Harvey enjoys on Family Feud, it’s a unique answer.
As host of the popular game show, Harvey, 67, is known for his hilarious reactions to the answers contestants give. In the show, two families compete against each other to answer survey questions with the end goal of being able to guess all the items on the board, gaining the most points.
Harvey started his career as a comedian in the early ’80s and took over the role of host of Family Feud after John O’Hurley stepped down in 2010. The new host has since been captivating audiences with moments of the game show going viral often.
Steve Harvey is the father
In one clip of Feud, Harvey asked his contestants, “Name a reason it would be great to have Steve Harvey as your father?” The participant answered, “He’s rich.” Harvey immediately nodded in agreement as he said, “Yes, yes,” and pounded the contestant’s podium. “Girl you better… You better jump on your buzzer!,” Harvey told the contestant as he gave her four high-fives in a row.
Risky answer
One moment that sticks out among many is when Harvey asked, “Women love a man in uniform. Men love a woman in what??” The contestant answered with, “I’m gonna get myself in trouble with my wife, but the kitchen,” as he shrugged. To which Harvey responded and said, “Jeff, I gotta tell you – that’s about the stupidest thing you could’ve said,” looking concerned for the contestant.
That’s not quite right…
In a different instance, Harvey asked contestants to “give [him] a U.S. state with a “y” in it. One contestant responded with, “Florida-y” which caused the host to fold over in laughter. When he was able to compose himself Harvey admitted, “I’m gonna be with you. I can’t think of one either. I really can’t!”
There may be some mocking involved
Harvey jokingly silenced one contestant’s yelling during an episode when he called her byname and asked her to “stop all that hollerin’ now.” The contestant apologized and he responded and said, “Time to play. ain’t got time for that when it’s your turn,” and mocked the contestant’s yell. Harvey then asked her to “name something you should probably warn a date about before bringing him home,” to which she enthusiastically answered, “no furniture.” Harvey responded by laughing and mocking the contestant’s animated response as he yelled, “no furniture!”
Where the money goes
In another moment, Harvey asked contestants to “name something [they] think Steve Harvey spends a lot of money on.” One contestant answered, “Wife, Steve,” To which Harvey agreed as he yelled, “Yes!,” and slammed his notecards on the floor. “That should be the number one answer!,” Harvey continued. When the answer was revealed it read, “Wife/Women,” and the host specified, “Oh no, not women. Marjorie!,” in reference to his wife, Marjorie, 60.
Relatable
One of Harvey’s best reactions comes after he asked his contestants to “tell [him] something that [they] don’t want to admit it but [they’re] afraid of it.” The participant responded with, “Wife,” and Harvey laughed until he stopped and held the contestant’s shoulder and admitted he was afraid as well and said, “me too.”
Fingers go in there?
Harvey asked a contestant to “name something that is made for people to put their fingers into.” The answer he got was “jelly,” which prompted the host to laugh at the participant and said, “You got some wild stuff going on at your house, dawg.” Harvey later pretended to be the contestant with the jelly and said, “Yeah girl, what’s happening? Got my hand in this jelly,” as he mimed his fingers going into a jar of jelly.
Family Feud with Steve Harvey as host airs on Tuesday nights on ABC.
