Take That Ken Rosenthal; Aaron Judge Gets Another Massive Postseason Moment
After years of lackluster postseason performances from New York Yankees superstar Aaron Judge, the two-time MVP finally has his signature October moment.
With his team trailing 6-3 in the bottom of the fourth inning in Game 3 of the American League Division Series against the Toronto Blue Jays, Judge turned on a 100-mph fastball from Toronto right-hander Louis Varland. It was a sky-scraping home run that hit high off the left field foul pole to tie the game at six headed into the fifth inning.

A humongous weight had to be lifted off Judge’s shoulders after the home run. Since his emergence as a superstar, he has struggled to provide meaningful production in the postseason. One swing of the bat has erased all of that, and Judge now has another (contrary to popular belief) significant postseason moment.
Prior to Tuesday’s game, MLB insider Ken Rosenthal was speaking about Judge’s lack of postseason production and made a comment that, frankly, does not hold much truth.
“With the Yankees facing elimination, there would be no better time than now for Judge to deliver his own signature October moment,” Rosenthal said via a post on X from Fox Sports: MLB.
Judge’s game-tying blast gave him six career home runs in an elimination game, tied for an MLB record with David Ortiz. He also has a significant game-tying home run off Emmanuel Clase in Game 3 of the 2024 ALCS. To say that Judge does not have a signature October moment is blasphemous and far from the truth.
The performance from Judge this postseason along with his previous success in the toughest games deserves more recognition and hopefully insiders like Rosenthal grow to appreciate it more rather than relying on batting average and on-base percentage.
