Taylor Swift Fans Say She ‘Saved the NFL’ by Attending 1st Chiefs Game of Season
Entertainment gossip and news from Newsweek’s network of contributors
Taylor Swift is officially in the building!
On Thursday, September 5, Swift, 34, waved at fans as she made her way to Arrowhead Stadium roughly an hour before kickoff. The iconic pop star had Swifties going wild both in person and online the second she touched down at the Missouri venue to watch the Kansas City Chiefs take on the Baltimore Ravens.
As she walked through the stadium, Swift sported matching denim set and thigh-high dark red boots — a clear nod to boyfriend Travis Kelce’s team.
Fans, understandably, lost it.
“THE FIT?? THE HAIR?? THE BOOTS?? TAYWAG YOU ARE MY FAVORITE ❤️❤️❤️❤️,” one person wrote via X (formerly known as Twitter).
“TAYWAG IS BACK IN ACTION AND LOOKING HOTTER THAN EVER,” another penned.
“damn i miss seeing taylor swift & nfl content, WELCOME BACK!!” a third fan gushed.
Even knowing beforehand that Swift would be attending the first Kansas City Chiefs game of the season, Swifties went absolutely feral.
Hours before the game began, fans reacted to The New York Times‘ report that the 14-time Grammy winner was going to be in attendance to watch boyfriend Travis Kelce take the field.
“People will actually watch now. She saved the NFL,” one fan wrote via X (formerly known as Twitter).
Many more Swifties revealed that they’d be tuning into the opening game solely because the pop star was there.
“The NFL opening game just got a whole lot more exciting with Taylor Swift in the house!” tweeted another social media user.
“Meaning i will be watching [the] NFL opening game,” another fan said in response to the news that Swift would be at the game.
Others already predicted the widespread excitement Swift’s appearance will cause. “Mother is coming,” a fan shared.
“that’s gonna be lit!! i can already see the crowd going wild,” another person mused.
It’s no surprise that the “Guilty as Sin?” hitmaker’s appearance at the game will not only bring in hundreds of thousands of extra viewers — it will also rake in a pretty penny for the NFL and the Chiefs. In February, it was reported that Swift already increased the Chiefs’ brand value by over $330 million.
