Taylor Swift Shuts Down Fan Theory at Concert

Taylor Swift has shut down rumors that she would be inviting some famous friends on stage at her Eras Tour in Madrid, Spain.

Swift kicked off the European leg of her record-breaking tour earlier this month and, while there have been some famous faces in the audience, including boyfriend Travis Kelce, she was alone onstage for the Spanish show.

Some of her more-intrepid fans had hoped either singer Lana Del Rey or frequent collaborator Aaron Dessner from The National might make an appearance in Madrid.

One TikTok user even went as far as to make a video showing how both Del Rey and The National were performing at an upcoming festival in Spain around the same dates as Swift’s Eras Tour concerts.

Del Rey featured on Swift’s song “Snow on the Beach” from her Midnights album, so fans braced themselves when she began performing it during the first night of her Madrid run.

However, Swift had some bad news for them. “It’s just me guys, sorry,” the star said while sitting at a piano and playing the opening notes of the song.

Another fan shared that moment to TikTok, and Swifties, the name of her mega-fans, reacted: “swear this woman is more online than I am,” wrote @i-vun-uhhh, referring to Swift being aware of the fan’s theory.

User @taylorjones added: “she’s def been in the comment on this app with that joke.”

“She is so silly. She’s watching us, which is actually really neat but also funny,” wrote @balerdashley.

One of the recent times Swift and Del Rey were spotted together in public was when they attended Super Bowl LVIII between the Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers in Las Vegas in February. Swift and her pals were there to cheer on Kelce, who won his third Super Bowl with the Chiefs.

More recently, Swift and Kelce attended the Coachella music festival together to see Del Rey perform in her headlining set in April.

It has been a huge year for Del Rey, who not only has been headlining major festivals around the world, rubbing shoulders with A-listers at the Met Gala on May 6 in New York City, but also featured on an impressive list; her 2019 album Norman F****** Rockwell! was number 79 on Apple Music’s 100 Best Albums.

Lauryn Hill’s The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill took the top spot and was celebrated for its profound impact on the spiritual and cultural landscape since its release in 1998.

The panel that curated the list was made up of a diverse group of experts, including the streamer’s editorial team and a select group of artists, songwriters, producers and industry professionals. These included legendary record producer and Chic founder Nile Rodgers; Grammy-nominated artist and producer Maggie Rogers; and Apple Music’s Zane Lowe and Ebro Darden.
