Tears at Where Blind and Almost Deaf Senior Dog Waits for Owner: ‘So Sad’
Hearts have well and truly been melted across the internet by a blind senior dog who stood in a corner facing the wall without realizing it.
Dog owner Jenny Martin, from Kerrville, Texas, shared an adorable video of her 15-year-old Maltipoo who is “blind and basically deaf.” The dog could be seen wagging her tail as she eagerly waited to be picked up by her owner—unfortunately, she had no idea she was in the wrong place.
Rather than standing by the couch where Martin was sitting, the Maltipoo was in the corner of the room, facing the wall instead.
The sweet video of the senior dog has left internet users fighting back the tears, leading to more than 241,800 views and 8,500 likes on TikTok at the time of writing.

Newsweek has contacted Martin via TikTok for comment.
Layered over the video, the caption states: “When your 15-year-old BLIND maltipoo thinks she is waiting for you to pick her up on the couch.”
While the senior dog may have lost her sight and most of her hearing, and she only has three teeth left, her owner highlighted that it hasn’t dampened her spirit. Writing in the TikTok caption, Martin added that her Maltipoo is “still spunky though.”
Caring for a blind or deaf dog can be challenging, but that isn’t to say it’s not rewarding. The U.K. animal charity, Dogs Trust, states that when living with a deaf dog, owners should avoid disturbing them because they’re easily startled. Communicating through touch can be helpful, so it’s important to ensure that’s a positive experience. If you’re feeling angry or annoyed, avoid touching them as they’ll probably sense that but won’t understand why.
For owners with blind dogs, every part of their home needs to be accessible and safe. The Dogs Trust recommends covering any sharp corners with padding, putting place mats next to entrances or their dog bowls so they can feel their way around, and keeping all furniture in the same place.
It can also be useful to have a word or command which acts as a safety warning. For example, with enough repetition, dogs can learn that a phrase such as “be careful” means there’s a potential obstacle nearby. When they hear that, they will learn to slow down and feel around before moving.
Since the sweet video of the blind maltipoo was shared on February 6, it has amassed more than 600 comments on TikTok in a matter of days. The dog certainly left plenty of internet users in tears, as many could relate to the challenges of owning a senior dog.
One comment reads: “Poor baby I feel so bad for her.”
Another TikTok user wrote: “Omg I could cry.”
“Awww poor baby! Please pick her up,” responded one user.
Another person added: “It’s so sad watching them get old.”
