Here’s a video of the play:

Stroud stayed down for some time before getting up and trying to walk off the field. He struggled to get off the field and again crouched down in pain. He finally got off the field and there was immediate concern over the second-year quarterback. However, he was able to return to the game to kneel before halftime. That should be a good sign for his status in the second half, but more information will be revealed on Stroud when halftime concludes.

Both teams’ offenses are struggling on Thursday night. The Texans lead 7-0 at halftime, and have leaned on running back Joe Mixon, who has 17 rushes for 91 yards and a touchdown.

Stroud has completed just 7-of-16 passes for 115 yards. His leading receiver is Tank Dell, who has four catches for 70 yards.

On the other side, the Jets offense has been shut down by Houston’s defense. Quarterback Aaron Rodgers has completed 7-of-14 passes for just 32 yards, while being sacked twice. Wide receiver Davante Adams has four receptions for 25 yards, while wideout Garrett Wilson has two catches for nine yards. Running back Breece Hall has six rushes for 37 yards.

Stroud is in the midst of a strong sophomore campaign. After winning the Offensive Rookie of the Year award in 2023, Stroud entered Thursday night’s game having completed 66.5 percent of his passes for 1,948 yards with 11 touchdowns and four interceptions. He’s now over 2,000 passing yards on the season.

Stroud appears like he’ll be good enough to return for the start of the second half. However, if not, the Texans would have to rely on backup quarterback Davis Mills.

The Texans are 6-2 and looking to continue this upward trend since Stroud took over at quarterback. As for the Jets, they’re just looking to keep their season alive, as a loss would drop them to 2-7 on the season.

This is not what the Jets envisioned when they added Rodgers, and it’s definitely not what they envisioned a few weeks ago when they traded for his former Green Bay Packers teammate in Davante Adams.
