The Disgusting Reason Amy Robach Moved In With T.J. Holmes

Entertainment gossip and news from Newsweek’s network of contributors

Amy Robach and T.J. Holmes are currently sharing an apartment in Manhattan, albeit temporarily, due to an unexpected situation.

On the Wednesday, October 2 episode of the couple’s podcast, Morning Run with Amy & T.J., Robach and Holmes revealed they’re currently living together because of a serious cockroach infestation that forced Robach’s 19-year-old daughter, Ava, out of her home in Greenwich Village.

Holmes, 47, shared his thoughts on their living arrangement. “I’ve enjoyed the time… it’s been a little different, but I’ve liked it,” he said, reflecting on the unique circumstances that have actually brought them closer. Ava, whose father is Robach’s ex-husband Tim McIntosh, was living with a roommate in the apartment until the infestation disrupted their plans.

Robach, 51, went on to explain that Ava and her roommate are in the process of moving into a new apartment in the same building, but in the meantime, they are staying with Robach and Holmes.

The mother-of-two humorously noted that her early morning schedule — which includes waking up at 3 a.m. to prepare for their podcast — doesn’t align well with the late-night lifestyle of her teenage daughter and her pal. “We used to ask each other every night, ‘Your place or mine?'” Robach recalled. “Now it’s just a foregone conclusion. We’re getting a little trial run.”

However, the living situation isn’t without its challenges. Holmes voiced a complaint about the temperature at night, jokingly stating, “It’s too damn cold at night in the bed.” He added that if anyone were to peek in on them, they would see him bundled up in blankets while “a butt-naked white woman is on top!” Robach laughed in agreement, admitting that she prefers not to cuddle while sleeping, as she finds it too warm and ends up sweating.

Recently, the former ABC co-hosts and now romantic partners shared a frightening experience during Monday’s episode of the pod. The couple recounted how they were dining outdoor with Holmes’ daughter, Sabine, when they found themselves in a precarious situation.

Robach described the setup as being right in the roadway where cars could potentially veer off course. Suddenly, they heard screeching tires followed by the sound of a collision, and Holmes quickly noticed a white minivan barreling toward their table. Acting instinctively, he managed to push Robach to safety.
