Timothée Chalamet Lookalike Contest Winner Reacts to Actor’s SNL Appearance
Some may be shocked to learn that Miles Mitchell, the internet’s “Temu-thée Chalamet” and the winner of last year’s viral Timothée Chalamet lookalike contest, was, in fact, not a part of the actor’s lookalike-inspired promo video for his Saturday Night Live (SNL) hosting gig this week. However, Mitchell did make it to Studio 8H for the main event—and he had thoughts to share about his “twin’s” performance.
The promo released earlier this week featured a slew of Chalamet doppelgangers, dressed up in his various roles like Bob Dylan and Willy Wonka, but arguably the most recognizable lookalike was nowhere to be seen. Mitchell clarifies that this was not out of malice—rather, it was he who was unavailable.
“They did reach out to me to be in the promo, but unfortunately, I was in Europe at the time,” Mitchell told Newsweek. “They didn’t want me to fly internationally to be in the shoot, so yeah, I was like, ‘Dang!'”
Despite missing out on the promo, the 21-year-old Staten Island native nabbed a standby ticket for the show and got a seat for the production, thanks to some helpful advice from his brother—a frequent audience member of the show.
Mitchell watched in awe as Chalamet, who was also the night’s musical guest, delivered his opening monologue, poking fun at the fact that he has yet to win an Academy Award and laughed at the actor’s comedic chops in skits like the coffee shop barista training.
“My favorite skit, hands down, was the coffee shop one. That actually had me laughing out loud when I was at the show, and I was able to get a good view of that skit as well from my seat,” Mitchell said. “I like how they revisited the ‘yeet skrt’ thing. It was sad that Pete Davidson wasn’t there though, shoutout Staten Island.”

But when it came to Chalamet once again donning Bob Dylan’s leopard-skin pillbox hat for his musical performance, that’s when he was really amazed.
“Honestly, I’m so fortunate and grateful that I actually got to see Timothée Chalamet perform live, which I think is such a niche thing to say about him because he’s not a musical artist,” Mitchell said. “I feel like I got to witness something that you would only see in a studio, like for him filming the movie.”
Mitchell and Chalamet have met twice before—initially at an early screening of A Complete Unknown and then a second time at the Golden Globes—but they failed to reconnect after the SNL production.
“I know that SNL is a very hectic scene, and actors are always rushed off the set. And I wasn’t expecting that I was going to meet him again,” he told Newsweek. “But I think that he knows what I look like, so I feel like if he did manage to see me in the audience, maybe he would have pointed out, like ‘Yo!’ or something.”
Since the lookalike contest last year, Mitchell has taken up content creation after his win catapulted him into the public eye. So far, he’s starred in a commercial for Impossible Foods, earned himself a Shake Shack sponsorship and even walked the red carpet at the Golden Globes. He wants to keep riding the wave his lookalike life has taken him on—his fingers are crossed for appearing at the upcoming Oscars ceremony, or potentially even Fashion Week.
“Hopefully, I could do something related to New York Fashion Week. That’s always been on a bucket list of mine, to do a runway for a modeling thing,” he said. “I don’t know if I want to be a model, but just to say I could be on a runway just for the dad lore.”
And to think, it all started with a silly lookalike contest he joined just for fun.
“At first, when I was signing up for it, I was just like, this is just a meme,” Mitchell said. “I’m very grateful for how this opportunity of the lookalike contest has put me in positions that I would have only, literally, dreamed of.”
