Top 10 Best Monday Night Football Games on the NFL Schedule This Season

The first Monday Night Football game of the 2024 NFL season is a week away, as the New York Jets and San Francisco 49ers face off Sept. 9.

Ahead of the MNF season opener, here are the top 10 Monday Night Football games to look out for this season.

10. Week 9: Buccaneers at Chiefs

This is the rematch of the lone Super Bowl Patrick Mahomes has lost, but Tom Brady is no longer the Buccaneers’ quarterback. That job belongs to Baker Mayfield, who managed to lead the Buccaneers to the playoffs a season ago.

9. Week 3: Commanders at Bengals

If Jayden Daniels starts his rookie season strong, this could prove to be a great game. Even if he doesn’t, the Bengals aren’t known for starting off the season well either, which could keep this game close.

8. Week 3: Jaguars at Bills

The Bills have of course been the better team lately, but the Jaguars seem to get the better of the Bills. The Jaguars have defeated the Bills each of the last two times these teams have gone up against each other, including a 25-20 win a season ago. This is also the second game of a Week 3 doubleheader on Monday Night Football.

7. Week 6: Bills at Jets

The last time these two teams faced off on Monday Night Football, Aaron Rodgers suffered a torn Achilles on the opening series. This game will offer a re-do, and ideally allow a great duel between Rodgers and Josh Allen.

6. Week 11: Texans at Cowboys

In the battle for Texas, the two playoff contenders will go up against each other at AT&T Stadium. If Dak Prescott can outperform C.J. Stroud on his home turf, it could go a long way to him earning a huge contract next offseason.

5. Week 1: Jets at 49ers

This game will largely depend on how Aaron Rodgers plays in his first game back from a torn Achilles, but still features Rodgers once again facing the team that chose Alex Smith over him.

Jets-49ers also showcases Jets head coach Robert Saleh going up his former team in the 49ers.

4. Week 12: Ravens at Chargers

Jim Harbaugh is back in the NFL, and so is the Harbaugh Bowl.

Jim and John Harbaugh have faced each other twice as NFL head coaches, with John going 2-0 against his brother. The storyline will dominate this game, but the matchup itself could be great if the Chargers live up to their potential.

3. Week 10: Dolphins at Rams

In a rare interconference matchup, the Dolphins will head to SoFi Stadium in search of a win against the Rams. This game features some of the NFL’s best receivers in Tyreek Hill, Jaylen Waddle, Puka Nacua, and Cooper Kupp.

2. Week 14: Bengals at Cowboys

Joe Burrow will face the Dallas Cowboys for the first time in his career after missing the 2020 matchup with a torn ACL. The Bengals and the Cowboys feature two of the NFL’s best young receivers in CeeDee Lamb and Ja’Marr Chase. If they go off, it should be an exciting game.

1. Week 17: Lions at 49ers

The Monday Night Football slate concludes with a rematch of last season’s NFC Championship Game. The Lions held a lead for much of the game, before the 49ers pulled off the comeback to advance to the Super Bowl.

This game could very well determine who ends up with the No. 1 seed and first-round bye in the playoffs. Will the Lions get revenge? Or will the 49ers hold their ground?
