Trevor Lawrence Breaks Silence After Scary Head Injury in Jaguars’ Loss to Texans
Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence has released an update after his scary head injury in Sunday’s loss to the Houston Texans.
“Thank you to everyone who has reached out / been praying for me,” Lawrence wrote on X. “I’m home and feeling better. Means a lot, thank you all.”

Lawrence was on the receiving end of a scary hit on Sunday against the Texans. Late in the second quarter, Lawrence got out of the pocket and started to run for the first down. Lawrence then slid right around the first down mark but was met by Houston linebacker Azeez Al-Shaair, who lowered his forearm and smashed Lawrence’s head into the ground. Here’s a video of the play:
Al-Shaair was ejected while Lawrence was carted off the field, and very quickly ruled out for the remainder of the game.
After the game, Jaguars head coach Doug Pederson didn’t have an answer about his star signal-caller potentially returning this season.

“I was excited for Trevor to get back out there and start for our team and lead our football team this week,” Pederson said. “It’s unfortunate. It’s a play that really has no business being in our league. I thought the officials did a great job of doing the best they could to get control of it and all of that.”
Lawrence missed the last month due to a sprained left AC joint he suffered in a Week 10 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. On the year, Lawrence has completed 172-of-284 passes for 2,045 yards with 11 touchdowns and seven interceptions.
Lawrence’s teammates came to the defense of their quarterback, both during the game in an on-field scuffle and after the game while speaking to reporters.
“It was a dirty hit,” tight end Evan Engram said. “Obviously those hits are always in question. Trevor was going down and I saw it out of my peripheral [vision]. I got a pretty clear view of it, and in that moment, just [reacted on] instincts. It just didn’t feel like a clean hit, so just go stick up for my quarterback.”
Added defensive end Josh Hines-Allen: “That was a dumb hit on his part … At the end of the day he’s just playing football, but again, the way we’ve changed the rules of how we play, we go over these things. We talk about these things. We know how to play football. A couple of years ago, that would’ve been a great hit, but now that wasn’t a good play on him.”
Fortunately, Lawrence has provided a positive update after what was a scary moment for him and the Jaguars.
