Trump Says $500m Deal To End Harvard Feud Close: ‘Sins Are Forgiven’ 

President Donald Trump said on Tuesday that his administration is close to reaching a $500 million deal with Harvard University.

Speaking to reporters in the Oval Office, the president initially said a deal had been reached, but then said officials were “close to finalizing” it.

He said it would include a $500 million payment from the university that would be used to create “a series of trade schools that would be run by Harvard.”

Pushed for further details about the deal, Trump said: “Well, we’re in the process of getting very close… and they’d be paying about $500 million and they’ll be operating trade schools. They’re going to be teaching people how to do AI and lots of other things.”

He added: “It’s a big investment in trade school, done by very smart people. And then their sins are forgiven.”

The deal would end a feud with the university that saw the Trump administration cut more than $2.6 billion in Harvard’s research grants. The administration also sought to cut off the university’s ability to enroll foreign students after it rejected a series of demands for changes to limit activism on campus and end diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) programs.
