Trump’s Approval Rating Dips to Second Term Low with Conservative Pollster

President Donald Trump’s approval rating has dipped to a new second-term low, a poll from Rasmussen Reports shows.

Why It Matters

Second-term lows in approval with the conservative-leaning tracker could potentially shape the political environment heading into the 2026 midterm elections.

What To Know

On Thursday, Rasmussen’s daily tracker showed the president at 41 percent approval and 57 percent disapproval. On Wednesday, the president’s approval rating was 43 percent, down from 44 percent the day before. The poll surveyed 1,500 likely voters with a 3 percent margin of error.

Other recent national polls show the president’s approval rating underwater on major issues, including the economy and immigration.

According to a poll from Quinnipiac University released on Wednesday, Trump’s approval rating was 37 percent versus a 56 percent disapproval rating. On the economy, the president has a 39 percent approval rating versus a 56 percent disapproval rating. Trump’s approval rating on immigration was 38 percent versus a 59 percent disapproval rating.

Trump’s low score on immigration comes amid backlash following the deaths of two U.S. citizens, Renee Good and Alex Pretti, who were fatally shot by federal immigration agents in Minneapolis last month.

What People Are Saying

President Donald Trump said on Truth Social last month: “Fake and Fraudulent Polling should be, virtually, a criminal offense. As an example, all of the Anti Trump Media that covered me during the 2020 Election showed Polls that were knowingly wrong. They knew what they were doing, trying to influence the Election, but I won in a Landslide, including winning the Popular Vote, all 7 of the 7 Swing States, the Electoral College was a route, and 2,750 Counties to 525. You can’t do much better than that, and yet if people examined The Failing New York Times, ABC Fake News, NBC Fake News, CBS Fake News, Low Ratings CNN, or the now defunct MSDNC, Polls were all fraudulent, and bore nothing even close to the final results.”

The president continued: “Something has to be done about Fraudulent Polling. Even the Polls of FoxNews and The Wall Street Journal have been, over the years, terrible! There are great Pollsters that called the Election right, but the Media does not want to use them in any way, shape, or form. Isn’t it sad what has happened to American Journalism, but I am going to do everything possible to keep this Polling SCAM from moving forward!”
