Tsunami Live Tracker as 10 Foot Waves Could Hit Hawaii

Tsunami waves up to 10 feet high could hit parts of northern Hawaii after a 8.8 magnitude earthquake struck Wednesday off the coast of Russia, according to the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center.
Hawaii Governor Josh Green urged residents to evacuate all coastal areas immediately, warning them not to underestimate the threat. “It will not hit one beach, it will wrap around the islands,” he said.
Honolulu Mayor Rick Blangiardi echoed the call, telling people to move to higher ground without delay.
Data from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) shows that tsunami waves have begun to hit U.S. shorelines, with initial waves reaching Hawaii’s coast.
Water levels were recorded above four feet in Haleiwa, on the north shore of Hawaii’s Oahu island, according to the data.
The first tsunami wave hit the Russian coastal area of Severo-Kurilsk, the main settlement on Russia’s Kuril Islands in the Pacific, the Associated Press reported, citing Governor Valery Limarenko.
