USA vs. Canada Gold Medal Match Odds, Best Bets: Americans Slight Dogs In Milan

One year after a memorable 4 Nations Face-Off championship meeting between Canada and the USA, the North American hockey powerhouses meet again on an even bigger stage tomorrow morning: the Gold Medal match of the 2026 Winter Olympics.

After Canada’s comeback win over Finland in the semis and Team USA’s blowout of Slovakia on Friday, hockey fans will be treated to a rematch of the 2002 and 2010 Olympic gold medal games, both of which ended with the Canadians winning gold.

Will Team USA be able to pull off the slight upset and win Olympic gold for the first time since the 1980 squad made history in Lake Placid?

Or will the Canadians — who are loaded, as usual, but had more trouble than expected with both Czechia in the quarterfinals (Canada 3, Czechia 2 in OT) and Finland in the semis (Canada 3, Finland 2) — find a way to win gold, again?

USA vs. Canada Betting Odds: Puck Line, Moneyline, Total

Oddsmakers are showing USA plenty of respect in what is seen as, essentially, a coin flip.

USA vs. Canada Gold Medal Match Prediction, Best Bets

The last time the USA and Canada met with both countries at (or very close to) full strength, Canada won 3-2 in overtime of last year’s 4 Nations Face-Off championship game despite the USA holding the edge in shots (33-27) and hits (28-25) and splitting the faceoffs battle 32-32.

Analyzing Sunday’s Milano Cortina 2026 gold medal game feels like splitting hairs, which makes it hard to pinpoint a safe bet on either side, whether you’re a supporter of Team USA or Canada.

In addition to all the tough-to-answer questions about how these teams will look in a game of this magnitude, it’s unclear whether Canada captain Sidney Crosby will be in action on Sunday.

Crosby practiced on Saturday, but the uncertainty regarding whether he’ll be inactive, limited, or 100 percent makes this game that much tougher to handicap.

To me, the best USA vs. Canada bet is over 5.5, which is especially tempting at +138 at FanDuel. Overtime also feels like a strong possibility given how close the last clash between USA and Canada was. That makes a small play on “Will there be overtime — yes” hard to resist at +260.

  • Prediction: Canada to win

Best bets:

  • Over 5.5 (+138 at FanDuel) — 0.5 units
  • Will there be overtime — yes (+260 at FanDuel) — 0.25 units
