USPS Announces New 2026 Stamp

The United States Postal Service (USPS) will celebrate the 150th anniversary of Colorado’s statehood with the release of a special Forever stamp on January 24, 2026.

What To Know

The stamp features a landscape photograph of Jagged Mountain by the late Colorado nature photographer John Fielder. The stamp is also designed to commemorate the Centennial State’s admission as the 38th state on August 1, 1876—exactly 100 years after the signing of the Declaration of Independence.

The Colorado Statehood Forever stamp will be issued on January 24, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. (MST) during a “first-day-of-issue” event at the History Colorado Center, according to the USPS press release.

The USPS has established that the ceremony will be led by Amber F. McReynolds, chairwoman of the USPS Board of Governors, as the dedicating official, representing the USPS.

The unveiling of the Forever Stamp will coincide with the opening of the “Mountains Majesty: On the Summit with John Fielder” exhibition. According to the History Colorado Center, Fielder donated his life’s work to the center in 2023. The exhibition will showcase about 5,000 images selected from the more than 200,000 photographs he captured over 50 years, before his passing in 2023.

The public can purchase this Forever stamp, and others, alongside stamp-related products, either online at the USPS Postal Store, by phone, mail, or at select post office locations.

Officially licensed merchandise is also available via Amazon.

What People Are Saying

Lisa Bobb-Semple, director of Stamp Services at USPS, said in a previous USPS release: “Each stamp is a small work of art — an entryway into a larger story that connects people, places and moments in history. This year, we continue to honor that legacy with a diverse range of subjects and designs, from beloved series and commemorative anniversaries to bold new releases that will inspire and excite collectors and admirers alike.

What Happens Next

The release event for the Colorado Statehood stamp will take place on January 24, 2026, at the History Colorado Center in Denver. The first-day-of-issue ceremony is free and open to the public, and the USPS is encouraging those who want to attend, to register online.

Additional 2026 Forever stamp releases are expected to be announced in the coming weeks, and people can find out the stories behind the stamps at stampsforever.com.
