Vikings Linked to Major Roster Move Ahead of Training Camp
With NFL training camp right around the corner and the regular season coming quickly, the Minnesota Vikings are hoping to be a top-tier contender in the NFC once again this season.
Kevin O’Connell’s team has gone through some change this offseason. Most notably, the Vikings have moved on from Sam Darnold to J.J. McCarthy at the quarterback position. Another notable change is that Stephon Gilmore has not been re-signed and is still a free agents.
Keeping that in mind, it would not be shocking to see Minnesota have interest in adding another cornerback before the season gets underway.

Even though training camp is so close, there are still quite a few talented cornerbacks available on the market. Gilmore is available, but there is another name that could make sense for the Vikings.

Bleacher Report analyst Matt Holder has suggested a major roster move for Minnesota before training camp. He has named veteran cornerback Rasul Douglas as a possible target for the Vikings.
“Staying within the NFC North, the Vikings could use some help in their secondary after deciding not to bring Stephon Gilmore back,” Holder wrote.
“Jeff Okudah and Isaiah Rodgers are currently expected to start on the boundary, but those two were backups with the Houston Texans and Philadelphia Eagles, respectively, last season. Adding Douglas would upgrade the cornerback room in Minnesota.”
Douglas played the 2024 NFL season with the Buffalo Bills. He appeared in 15 games, racking up 58 total tackles to go along with a forced fumble and five defended passes.
Back in the 2023 season, Douglas was an absolute star. He split the season between the Bills and the NFC North rival Green Bay Packers, playing in 16 games and recording 61 tackles, a sack, three fumble recoveries, five interceptions, a defensive touchdown, and 14 defended passes.

Looking at those numbers, it’s clear that the 30-year-old cornerback is capable of being a big-time playmaker in the secondary. Minnesota could use that kind of threat.
If the Vikings want to make an impact addition at the cornerback position, they should look no further than Douglas. There are other teams that could use him as well, but Brian Flores and his defensive system would fit the veteran defensive back perfectly.
