The Minnesota Vikings are taking on the New York Giants, but the game could not have started off worse for the Vikings. In a matter of minutes, the team lost its top running backs.
Aaron Jones suffered an ankle injury and was ruled questionable to return. To make matters worse, Jordan Mason was also hurt, but had to be carted off the field.
Mason also suffered an ankle injury, but his appears to be far worse.
Per reports, Mason looked to be very upset and had his head down. The Vikings will offer updates on both, but it appears the Vikings may have a serious situation on their hands.
Neither back had an injury designation heading into the game, and losing both in a matter of minutes will be tough for the Vikings to deal with. Zavier Scott will be taking over the role as the primary back.
J.J. McCarthy is known for extending plays with his legs as well, but the Vikings are at a major loss with the loss of both Mason and Jones.
At the time of this writing, the Vikings still lead the way with a 3-0 score. J.J. McCarthy threw an interception in the first quarter, and the offense is clearly struggling a bit. However, there is far more football left to play.
Jones may be able to return, but that has not yet been established. For Mason, the cart coming out indicates that his day is likely done. Both have a questionable status, and both have yet to be ruled out.
