Warriors’ Steph Curry Gets Honest on Retirement Timeline
Golden State Warriors superstar point guard Steph Curry has been a staple in the basketball world for almost two decades.
With his deep 3-pointers, crafty dribbling, and constantly making sensational plays on the hardwood, Curry is set to begin year No. 17 at 37 years old. When ESPN’s Malika Andrews asked about when the end of his illustrious career may be, the four-time champion spoke candidly regarding his future.

“No clue. I just know it’s closer than it was even yesterday,” Curry said. “Acknowledging it is fun, because the more I talk about it, the more I appreciate what all goes into preparing yourself. But all of that stuff is just the privilege that you’ve earned. I’m trying not to put any timestamps or anything, other than the sense of urgency on it now.”
The Warriors are going into the 2025-26 season with the 29th-oldest roster in the league, with an average age of 27.53.

One of Curry’s superstar teammates in Jimmy Butler — acquired last year from the Miami Heat — is 36 years old and preparing for his first full season in The Bay. Alongside them in the starting lineup is 13-year veteran Draymond Green, 35, and the newest member of the Warriors, 39-year-old veteran center Al Horford.
Another veteran pickup knows the two-time MVP quite well, as the Warriors signed Seth Curry, Steph’s younger brother, earlier this month.

This is not to say that the Warriors won’t be effective this season, especially after coming off securing the seventh seed in the Western Conference last year and taking down the No. 2 seed Houston Rockets in the first round of the playoffs.
Last season, Curry averaged more assists (6.0) and steals (1.1) than the season prior, while chipping in 24.5 points per game as well. He is showing now signs of slowing down and will look to have another productive season in San Francisco.
