Which ‘Euphoria’ Stars Are Returning to Season 3 After 4-Year Hiatus?

After years of delays, strikes, and uncertainty, “Euphoria” is finally back.

The hit HBO series, which first premiered in 2019, was originally scheduled to return with Season 3 in 2025 before a string of obstacles pushed production back, including creator Sam Levinson’s commitment to “The Idol” and the dual WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes in late 2023. Lead actress Zendaya also hinted that this will be the last season of the show, stating that “closure is coming,” on the “Drew Barrymore Show” Monday, April 6.

HBO ultimately allowed the in-demand cast to pursue other projects in the meantime, and the wait stretched on. While most of the core cast is returning, a few familiar faces won’t be making the trip back to East Highland during Season 3’s premiere on Sunday, April 12.

Here’s the full breakdown.

Who’s returning

Most obviously, Zendaya is back as Rue Bennett, the troubled protagonist at the center of it all.

Other lead stars Sydney Sweeney, Alexa Demie, and Maude Apatow will all be back as Cassie, Maddy, and Lexi respectively. Jacob Elordi also returns, as well as Hunter Schaffer, as both their characters appeared in the Season 3 teaser.

Colman Domingo will be back as Ali, albeit as a guest star. “I haven’t read [the script], but [Levinson] told me some of it, and it’s going to be groundbreaking,” he told The Hollywood Reporter in early 2025.

Eric Dane also filmed scenes before his passing in February 2026 at age 53 following an ALS diagnosis. Dominic Fike will appear in a limited capacity, and Chloe Cherry reportedly been upped to series regular, with her presence teased on the “Euphoria” Instagram account.

Who isn’t returning

Barbie Ferreira confirmed her exit back in 2022, writing an emotional goodbye to her character Kat on Instagram. Storm Reid, who played Rue’s younger sister Gia, also confirmed she won’t be back via Rotten Tomatoes in 2024, though she called the show “a really special thing” and said she’s “so glad that that’s a part of my legacy.”

The season will also have to reckon with the loss of Angus Cloud, who passed away in July 2023 at age 25. His character Fezco’s fate is expected to be addressed on screen.
