White House Issues Update on El Paso Air Space Closure

The White House blamed drone activity from Mexican drug cartels for the sudden closure of U.S. airspace over El Paso, Texas.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) said it was lifting restrictions on the airspace over El Paso after it was closed with a sudden Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) set to last for 10 days.

“Mexican cartel drones breached U.S. airspace. The Department of War took action to disable the drones. The FAA and DOW have determined there is no threat to commercial travel,” the White House said in a statement.

Flights to and from El Paso International Airport were halted due to the NOTAM.

“The temporary closure of airspace over El Paso has been lifted. There is no threat to commercial aviation. All flights will resume as normal,” the FAA said on its X account.
