Why Justin Timberlake Stopped His World Tour an Hour Before
Entertainment gossip and news from Newsweek’s network of contributors
Is this gonna ruin the tour?
An undisclosed injury led Justin Timberlake to postpone a concert at the Prudential Center in New Jersey, much to the dismay of ticket-holding fans. At 5:45 pm E.T., the 43-year-old singer posted a rather cryptic message to Instagram.
“I’m so sorry,” the “Cry Me A River” artist wrote, explaining that he has “an injury that is preventing [him] from performing.” While Timberlake did not disclose the nature of the injury, he thanked his fans for their “understanding” and “support always.” The Trolls star reassured followers that he was “working to reschedule ASAP,” and that he would give them “the show y’all deserve.” Given that the show was scheduled to begin at 7 pm E.T., however, some fans felt that this was too little too late, and they didn’t hesitate to vent their frustration in the comments.

“R U KIDDING. 30 minutes before doors!?” wrote one incredulous fan. Another agreed, sarcastically chiming in, “You should have waited a little longer to cancel. Seriously? Drove two hours for this.”
One clever fan tried to guess what the singer could have injured, suggesting that the N’SYNC frontman “broke his sexy back.” Several comments made fun of the memeified comment that Timberlake allegedly made during his DUI arrest in June: “This is gonna ruin the tour.”
Timberlake has a passionate fanbase, and many of them sent him well-wishes during his recovery. “Feel better soon Justin, don’t apologise for being human ❤️,” wrote one sympathetic Instagram follower. Another cheerfully rolled with the canceled concert, commenting, “Sad I didn’t get to see you on my birthday, but I’m hype to see you Friday. Love you, get better soon! You’re always worth the wait to see again .❤”
On the Prudential Center website, the venue announced that they are “working with the artist’s team on a rescheduled date that we hope to have information on as soon as possible.”
Timberlake’s next show is scheduled for October 11 in Philadelphia.
