Why Swifties Are Disappointed in Taylor Swift’s ‘Eras Tour Book’
Entertainment gossip and news from Newsweek’s network of contributors
Taylor Swift has kept fans fed all year with her various album iterations, Eras Tour memorabilia — and of course, the Eras Tour itself. But some Swifties are less than thrilled over the “Fortnight” hitmaker’s latest drop.
On Friday, November 29, Swift, 34, released The Eras Tour Book featuring several photos from the Grammy winner’s critically acclaimed Eras Tour. However, in the days since the book’s release, some fans noticed some big flubs within the book.
A TikTok user named Emily posted a video on Sunday, December 1, noting that the book appeared to have been rushed, as some of the text was rife with typos and grammatical errors. The TikTok user also noticed that some of the photos were blurry and perhaps may have been screen grabs from The Eras Tour concert film released last year.
Emily also noted the awkward placement of some of the photos, showing that some were featured directly in the middle of the book’s binding. “Most people are not going to flatten out these expensive books and break the spine just so they can see this part,” she said.
While Swift’s fans often take her side when faced with criticism, many are in agreement with Emily’s critique.
“I’m a photographer – I was AGHAST at the image quality,” wrote one person in the comments.
“I’m a swiftie & a graphic designer, this definitely would’ve gotten me tons of points off and a lecture in school,” wrote another fan. “You’re 100% valid.”
Some fans went as far as calling the book “The Errors Tour Book.” Swifties have also made the same quip throughout the pop star’s history-making tour, citing the viral mechanical mishaps Swift has endured throughout the two-year, worldwide trek.
Though most Swifties are in agreement in regards to where the book could’ve been improved, a few fans believe this book is an authentic work from Swift’s heart.
“Criticizing word choice isn’t necessary,” wrote one fan. “These are her words, as she spoke them.”
“I honestly loved the lack of editing in the writing it made everything feel more authentic coming from Taylor rather than an edited fake sounding version,” said another.
At the time of writing, Swift has not commented on the matter, nor have any plans for reprints been announced.
Swift will wrap the Eras Tour this weekend with three shows in Vancouver on December 6, 7, and 8.
