Wife Asks Husband About Cryptic Phone Calendar Note, Can’t Handle Response

A man has been applauded by viewers online after his wife shared what he does when she needs extra support.

The woman had taken to Reddit on December 4 to share the heartwarming reason behind a cryptic calendar reminder that she had discovered in her husband’s cellphone. The note, which read “be available for support,” repeated every 28 days for five days, uncovering a touching commitment from her husband to help her through her rough period symptoms.

The post, shared under u/CaffeinateMeCapn, has since been upvoted more than 13,000 times. Newsweek reached out to u/CaffeinateMeCapn for more information via Reddit.

The husband’s gesture, though simple, showcases profound thoughtfulness and care, resonating deeply with viewers. Etiquette expert Jo Hayes praised the husband’s actions, calling him a model of selfless, loving partnership and urging others to adopt similar practices in their relationships.

“Somebody give this man a medal for boyfriend of the year, or, husband of the year,” Hayes, who is also a speech language pathologist, told Newsweek.

The post begins with the wife clarifying that she hadn’t been snooping when she stumbled upon the calendar entry.

“He opened his calendar for something else, and I saw he had today marked ‘be available for support,'” the woman said. Curious about the note’s meaning, she asked her husband about it, and his response revealed a deeply considerate act of love.

Her husband said that he had set the reminder to repeat every 28 days for five days, aligning with her menstrual cycle. Knowing that she experiences severe period symptoms, he uses the reminder to ensure he is ready to provide any support she needs during those challenging days. The wife was profoundly moved by this revelation, especially since he had also stocked up on her favorite comfort snacks.

“The guy can’t remember to take his own allergy medication,” the woman added.

This story took the platform by storm, with commenters showering praise on the thoughtful husband.

“Aww, that makes me smile! Loving someone they way they need to be loved goes such a long way,” one viewer said.

Another added: “Oh my goodness this just about made me tear up. That’s what love looks like!”

“What a beautiful, kind, thoughtful man. This is example A of selfless, loving partnership,” Hayes said. “We can all take a leaf out of this man’s book—yes, certainly with our romantic relationships, but this attitude and mindset would benefit all our relationships.

“Taking time to consider how we can support our loved ones in practical ways and doing it.” Hayes said thoughtful actions like these can fortify relationships, suggesting that more people adopt this supportive mindset if inspired by the post.

“Husband has a big work project coming up? Perhaps carve out time in your own schedule to be there if he needs to let off steam, or can’t quite meet his usual household responsibilities. Sibling is going through a rough time with her children? Perhaps carve out time to babysit so she can have some much-needed alone time,” Hayes added.
