Wife Reveals What She Really Thinks About Husband’s Viral Song ‘Ordinary’
A wife’s misunderstanding her husband’s viral song lyrics has left internet viewers in stitches.
Anyone who has spent time online recently has likely come across Ordinary, the ballad by Alex Warren that has been soundtracking romantic videos and emotional content everywhere. The track has soared to the top of the charts in multiple countries, becoming a breakout hit for the content creator-turned-musician.
But the person it was written for—Alex’s wife, Kouvr—apparently hasn’t been singing the right words. In a now-viral TikTok video, Alex captured Kouvr’s hilarious misinterpretation of the lyrics. The clip has racked up over 4.5 million likes and more than 34.6 million views. Newsweek reached out to Alex Warren and his team for comment via TikTok and email.
“I wrote Ordinary about my wife, and she doesn’t even know the f****** lyrics,” Alex said in the video.

Kouvr said: “I thought the lyrics said, ‘In all my life, I’ll do ya.’
“I thought you were talking about getting freaky, and I was, like, ‘Damn, my mom listens to this,'” she added.
The actual lyric? “Oh, my life, how do ya?” followed by, “Breathe and take my breath away?”
This isn’t the first time Ordinary has caused a viral reaction. The track started an online trend when a woman shared that she wanted to walk down the aisle to the song—only for TikTok users to come up with reasons the tempo might not be the best fit for a wedding.
Others on TikTok jumped into the comment section to share their own lyrical mix-ups and support for Kouvr.
“It’s her song. She gets to pick the lyrics,” Faith Hill posted.
“I’m just now learning right this very minute that these aren’t the lyrics,” added Elyse Myers.
“Me patiently waiting for him to say what the actual lyrics are,” wrote Lillie.
“I THOUGHT IT WAS THAT TOO, i’m on kouvrs side here,” commented Cals.
The lyrical confusion has sparked a wave of misheard lyric confessions across social media.
“My daughter thinks [Alex Warren’s] carry you home chorus says ‘aren’t you sus every time?’ instead of ‘I choose us every time,’ and she dies laughing and I can’t unhear it!!! Hahaha,” wrote Sierra Brooke.
“I thought it was, ‘all my life I knew ya’,” posted Caitlin McCullough.
