Woman Adopts Cat, but Then She Sees Who It Chooses Instead

The moment a cat betrayed her adopter for her boyfriend—her clear favorite out of the couple—has left viewers on TikTok in stitches.

The cat was captured lounging peacefully on a couch, seemingly unbothered—until the faint sound of a car pulling into the driveway shifted everything. With her ears perked, the cat jolted upright and began listening even more intently, knowing that her favorite person was home. As the vehicle drew closer, the animal stood and purposefully walked toward the front door. The sweet domestic scene was shared to the platform on September 15 by the feline’s owner under @clfve. The post has been liked more than 142,000 times.

The next shot shows the cat sprawled belly-up on the floor, purring in submission as her owner’s boyfriend knelt down to offer a series of gentle tummy rubs.

An overlaid text on the video read: “My cat greeting my boyfriend at the doors,” while the caption added: “I adopted her, she chose him.”

The clip has left viewers on TikTok in hysterics, sparking a wave of amused commentary from cat owners who know the sting of second place.

Although cats are often stereotyped as aloof, many viewers quickly pointed out just how particular feline attachments can be. Several noted how their own pets had shown clear preferences for roommates, partners, or unexpected visitors over the people who feed and care for them daily.

“My calico cat is the exact same with my boyfriend, right down to lying on her back and giving big stretches,” one viewer said.

“My little flirty girl who also loves her daddy more than me,” another added.

“Same situation as me,” a third viewer shared. “I adopted her and she loves him.”

“This is my exact situation, even my cat looks exactly like yours,” another commented. “When she hears his car, you can’t even touch her lol.”

“I fear she won’t choose you in the custody agreement,” another said.

“I also have a calico girl cat,” a different viewer added. “I drove 2.5-hours to get her, I feed her every day, I play with her, I love her with all my heart, but she chooses my [boyfriend], he gets all the cuddles.”
