Woman Decides To Donate Toy Cat Ignored, Then Pet Throws a Curveball
While cats often give the impression they want nothing to do with you, they can also get bored easily and when one owner saw a toy not being used, she thought to switch it up.
The owner, known on TikTok as @catastrophiccompanions, explained in an October 10 video that her cat hadn’t used the cat jungle in months. Untouched and uninterested, the toy just took up space in the home. That’s why she decided to donate the toy. Or at least she tried.
As soon as she decided to donate the toy, the cat had other plans. Her black cat suddenly liked it. The clip shows her cat taking up residency in the home, looking up at her as if to ask, “How dare you take away my kingdom?” Another clip of a meme was placed on top of the video. The meme was a woman screaming in frustration, perfectly displaying how this owner felt about the situation.
In disbelief after all this time her cat finally showed interest, the caption reads: “Seriously, why?”

The reaction of finally showing interest in the toy is very on-brand for cats. Once it’s in their home, it’s theirs and they don’t want their kingdom touched.
One viewer suggested: “Sometimes you just got to move their things to a new location for them to become interested in them again.”
The owner responded and said she tried but had no luck. The cat “definitely knew” she was trying to donate it which is why they started showing interest.
Newsweek reached out to @catastrophiccompanions via TikTok for additional comment.
Do Cats Get Bored?
An article from BetterVet explained cats can get bored rather quickly, which can sometimes lead to destructive behaviors. Their boredom can be due to a lack of environmental or mental stimulation, little socialization or separation from their owners and other pets.
One aspect of their boredom comes from them losing interest in their toys. The article stated if your cat gets bored with their toys, it could be a signal they need more interaction and attention from you. To avoid this, try playing with different types of toys and dedicate interactive playtimes. It’s important to provide them with mental and physical stimulation to keep them happy and entertained.
