Woman Does Makeup in Front of Mirror—Then Spots Eyes Staring Back

A woman from the United Kingdom was doing her makeup when she noticed someone staring at her through the window. Internet users can’t cope with who the sneaky spy turned out to be.

In a viral TikTok video shared in January under the username @pepperthenaughtytabby, the poster can be seen doing her makeup on her desk when, out of nowhere, a tabby cat appears on the other side of the window, following her every move. “When your neighbor’s cat comes to watch you do your makeup every day,” reads layover text in the clip.

Cats are known for their innate curiosity and how far they will go to satisfy it. But what makes our felines so eager to make new discoveries?

A Catster article, medically reviewed by Dr. Luqman Javed, said that your cat’s curiosity is a natural result of being intelligent; it means that they may be trying to learn and retrieve information about their surroundings.

It is also an instinctual behavior, as hunters are always on the look for prey. Sometimes, cats may just be looking for a place to hide, especially if you have other felines, or they may be guarding their territory, searching every inch of it for signs of intruders.

Other times, cats may just be hungry or attention-seeking, or they may simply be trying to learn more about you, because they love you.

While curiosity in felines is a positive thing, it can also put them in very dangerous situations. Dr. Jess Kirk says in a Vet Explains Pets article that cat-proofing your home, securing the windows, hiding cords, and removing toxic plants can help prevent common accidents.

Moreover, if your cat is knocking things over or breaking your stuff, providing them interactive toys and scratching posts can help redirect their attention.

One user, Wistia, commented: “My cat used to watch my neighbor getting dressed. It started to make her feel uncomfortable.”
