Woman Shares Incredible Glow-Up After Breakup: ‘So Proud of Her’
It can be hard to know if you’re in the right relationship, but sometimes the answer is more obvious than you think—as one woman has shown with a glow-up.
A video posted to Instagram by Nathalie Wajashk-Restoule (@natrest) went viral after she shared her post-breakup transformation, saying that her body was proof that she needed to end the relationship.
“Sometimes, your body shows you that you’re with the wrong person,” she captioned the video.
The 28-year-old spoke to Newsweek about why she posted the video, which has over 321,000 likes, and how she reflects on the experience now.
Wajashk-Restoule said she only realized the impact that the relationship was having on her after she left it.
“When you are in an unhealthy relationship, or are in one that doesn’t serve you well, you can lose sight of yourself very quickly,” she said. “My mental, emotional, physical and spiritual health was the lowest it has ever been, because I was so invested in ‘saving’ this relationship rather than investing in myself.”
It was with the help of friends and family that she recognized that she was “losing her light,” Wajashk-Restoule said. Even then, it was hard to pull herself away.
“It was hard for me to leave something I had become so comfortable [with] and accustomed to. It wasn’t easy,” she said. “However, almost as soon as I left, it was a breath of fresh air. I almost became in tune with myself and realized how disconnected I’d become with my own self.”
Wajashk-Restoule then began to invest in herself and started seeing some changes.
Instagram users were impressed by her transformation.
“I’m so proud of you!” one person said.
“The breakup glow-up is no joke,” another user posted.
Sharing a similar experience, a third wrote, “No because this is so real!!! My body was rejecting something and I couldn’t figure out what UNTILLLL.”
While her viral video focused on her physical form, Wajashk-Restoule said her transformation was more holistic, and proved to be “mental, emotional, physical and spiritual,” she said.
And, four years on from her old relationship, Wajashk-Restoule said she continues to heal and prioritize herself, and is not currently in a relationship.
She is also not focused exclusively on romantic relationships.
“I recognize that any form of relationship we have can impact our lives,” she said. “So, I now become aware [of] who I surround myself with and analyze how that particular relationship makes me feel.
“It’s really interesting how much your life can change when you choose to let go and take charge of things and situations in your life.”
Now, she is determined to pay her lessons forward, which is why she decided to share her transformation. When Wajashk-Restoule was in a relationship that didn’t serve her, she said she might have gained some insight by coming across a video like hers.
“I love sharing this information, because I know it can help someone,” she said.
