‘Wordle’ #1,201 Hints, Clues and Answer for Wednesday, October 2 Game
If it being hump day means your brain is working slower than usual, Newsweek is here to help solve today’s Wordle.
Developed by Josh Wardle, a software engineer based in Brooklyn, the word-based game was originally a gift for his girlfriend who loved crosswords during the coronavirus lockdown. However, Wardle soon recognized its broader appeal and launched Wordle online in October 2021.
Its popularity skyrocketed within months, growing from 91 players in November 2021 to more than 2 million by January 2022. This rapid growth caught the attention of The New York Times, which acquired the game for an undisclosed seven-figure sum.
The game’s premise is straightforward. Players have six chances to guess a five-letter word, with each attempt offering clues to help narrow the correct answer. After each guess, the game provides feedback by changing the color of the letter tiles: green indicates that a letter is both correct and in the right position; yellow means the letter is in the word, but in the wrong position; and gray shows that the letter isn’t in the word at all.
This simple but effective feedback system makes Wordle engaging, rewarding players who use logic and strategy to find the right answer. There is also only one puzzle available each day, creating a sense of anticipation and routine for players.
The answer to Wednesday’s puzzle will be revealed at the end of this article, so scroll down with caution if you want to work it out for yourself.
