‘Wordle’ Today #1,354 Hints, Clues and Answer for Tuesday, March 4 Game

Wordle can often be a tricky game to solve, and if this is your first time attempting to crack the puzzle, Newsweek has all of the information you need to secure a win.

Software engineer Josh Wardle came up with the idea during the COVID-19 pandemic and released it to the public in October 2021, though it was initially just supposed to be a fun activity for him and his partner to enjoy. Fast-forward to January 2022, and The New York Times purchased the brainteaser for a seven-figure sum.

Now, it’s the newspaper’s most popular game.

How to Play Wordle

The rules of play are simple: Users must figure out the daily five-letter word within six attempts or the answer will be revealed. Luckily, there’s no time limit.

Along the way, hints are given for you to narrow down what the term will be: A green tile means the letter is correct; a yellow tile tells you that the letter appears in the word but is not in the right spot; and a gray tile indicates that letter does not appear in the word at all.

During a previous interview with Newsweek, Wardle said “there is a reason” for this particular format.

“That might seem arbitrary but, with the prototype version, I tested different word lengths and experimented with the number of tries that players were allowed,” he shared in 2022. “Through that process of refinement, I figured out that five letters and six tries was the ideal sweet spot. It’s just limited enough to feel challenging and to make you think, but most of the time people still manage to solve it. So, you feel a real sense of real accomplishment.”

As a verb, Merriam-Webster defines the term as “to inspect, examine, or look at appraisingly or appreciatively—usually used with out or over,” “to compare with a source, original, or authority,” “to slow or bring to a stop: brake” and more.

As a noun, it means, “A written order directing a bank to pay money as instructed,” “a mark typically placed beside an item to show it has been noted, examined, or verified,” “a pattern in squares that resembles a checkerboard,” and others.

As an interjection, it’s “used to express assent or agreement.”
