WWE Announces New Live Event Coming in January 2025


WWE is known for having some of the most prestigious and exciting live events in the business.

This includes iconic premium live events like WrestleMania, SummerSlam, Survivor Series, the Royal Rumble, and many, many more.

Now, WWE has revealed that a new live show is coming to Peacock near the beginning of 2025.

On Dec. 4, 2024, WWE officially announced that the next Saturday Night’s Main Event primetime special will air on NBC and Peacock on Saturday, Jan. 25, 2025, at 8:00 p.m. (7:00 p.m. Central).

“This marks the second quarterly primetime special to air on NBC and Peacock as part of WWE’s new five-year domestic media rights partnership with NBCUniversal, which kicked off in September with the premiere of SmackDown on USA Network,” WWE said.

The first quarterly primetime special, also called Saturday Night’s Main Event, will take place on Saturday, Dec. 14, 2024. Both events are set to last two hours.

The first Saturday Night’s Main Event will feature multiple exciting matches, including Cody Rhodes defending the WWE Championship against Kevin Owens and Liv Morgan defending the Women’s World Championship against IYO SKY.

It will also feature the tournament final for the inaugural WWE Women’s United States Championship.

The year 2024 marks the return of Saturday Night’s Main Event, which first began airing on NBC on May 11, 1985, and ran until April 27, 1991. It was then picked up by Fox, which aired two episodes on Feb. 8, 1992, and Nov. 14, 1992.

The show was usually hosted by Jesse “The Body” Ventura and Vince McMahon and featured exciting matches with multiple stars from the Golden Era of WWE, including Hulk Hogan, Andre the Giant, Paul Orndorff, Jake “The Snake” Roberts, Randy Savage, King Kong Bundy, and more.

Saturday Night’s Main Event had a second run on NBC from 2006-2008, the tail end of the Ruthless Aggression Era.

The Raw, SmackDown, and ECW commentary teams usually rotated for the matches depending on what brand the wrestlers represented.

Some WWE Superstars who appeared on the first revival of Saturday Night’s Main Event include John Cena, CM Punk, Batista, Edge, Rey Mysterio, Triple H, and Shawn Michaels.
